Zyklon B canister

Zyklon B was the trade name of a cyanide-based pesticide invented by the Degesch company in 1922. Before the war it was used for pest control in ships, coldstores and so on. From 1939 onwards the Wehrmacht needed Zyklon B for disinfection purposes. But it became most vicious in the hands of SS during the Holocaust: 1 kilo of Zyklon B could kill 250 people in the gas chambers.

The museum acquired this in July 2018 from a private German owner.
