Lanz Bulldog Raupe

The Lanz Bulldog Raupe is the tracked version of Germany's most famous tractor. Heinrich Lanz AG in Mannheim built the Bulldog from 1921 — an indestructible single-cylinder machine with a 10.3-litre hot-bulb engine that ran on almost anything: diesel, crude oil, kerosene, even vegetable oils. The tracked version (type HRK) produced 55 hp and offered enormous pulling power for heavy earthworks. Before starting, the hot bulb had to be preheated with a blowtorch. During the war, countless Bulldogs were requisitioned by the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe, which used them for towing aircraft and moving heavy loads at airfields. Over 220,000 Bulldogs were produced in total.
