Mercedes-Benz 170 V Cabrio-Limousine

This Mercedes-Benz 170 V Cabriolet is not a purpose-built military vehicle. It is an ordinary civilian car – originally designed for the German middle class – that was pressed into Wehrmacht service. This was common practice: alongside the specially developed 170 VK Kübelwagen, the military also used large numbers of standard 170 V models, taken straight from the showroom or requisitioned from private owners. The 170 V was Mercedes’ best-selling model of the 1930s: sturdy, reliable, and built on a robust ladder frame that could handle tough conditions. With its elegant convertible body, this example beautifully illustrates how a civilian car found a second life in wartime. Quite a stylish gentleman!
