Mittlerer Schützenpanzerwagen Sd.Kfz. 251

The Sd.Kfz. 251, built on the Hanomag half-track chassis, formed the backbone of German motorised infantry. Developed from 1937 and in production from 1938, it carried ten infantrymen under armour alongside the Panzers — embodying the very concept of modern mechanised warfare. Produced in four variants (Ausf. A through D) and no fewer than 22 specialised sub-types, it appeared on virtually every front. By 1945, over 15,000 had been built.
