Panzer II Luchs Sd.Kfz. 123

An impressive return to Militracks: the exceptionally rare Panzer II Ausf. G (Luchs), serial number 150070. A crowd favourite back in 2017, this 1943 vehicle makes its return to Overloon. The chassis number identifies this tank as a rare VK 9.01 predecessor, with only twelve units ever produced. This series marked a pivotal moment in the development of the interleaved road wheel system. The Luchs was a reconnaissance tank. Its only chance of survival lay in speed and mobility. The Schachtellaufwerk — the interleaved road wheels — enabled this vehicle to thunder across unpaved terrain at nearly 60 km/h. For a tank in 1943, that was an unprecedented speed.
This historic masterpiece is part of the prestigious collection of the Musée des Blindés de Saumur.
