Selbstfahrlafette auf Renault UE

This vehicle has just come out of restoration. Here is its history: Baukommando Becker was a German military organization during the Second World War, established under the leadership of Major Alfred Becker. The unit specialized in converting and reusing vehicles captured during the French capitulation, turning them into armored combat vehicles for the Wehrmacht. Among this war booty were thousands of Renault UE Chenillette vehicles, a French light armored tracked tractor designed in the 1930s for transporting ammunition and towing light artillery. One of the most remarkable conversions was transforming the Renault UE into a rocket launcher: the “Selbstfahrlafette für 28/32 cm Wurfrahmen auf Infanterie-Schlepper UE(f)”. This conversion took place in 1943 and was intended to equip these small, agile vehicles with heavy firepower as mobile rocket launchers. They fired the same type rockets as those used by the German Nebelwerfer.
