Leichter Schützenpanzerwagen Sd.Kfz. 250/7

In 2015, a rare Sd.Kfz. 250/7 Ausf. A was recovered from a reservoir near Stalingrad. Despite sustaining fatal damage from a 45mm shell, the hull remained preserved, bearing the original tactical markings of the 64th Motorcycle Battalion (14th Panzer Division). The vehicle features unique field modifications, such as reinforced mounts for an 8cm Granatwerfer and improvised ammunition stowage. Historically, this Demag served with Kampfgruppe Sauerbruch at the strategically vital Verkhne-Chirskaya bridgehead, which protected the Don River crossings essential for General Hoth’s relief force. During the Soviet breakthrough on December 14, 1942, the defense collapsed, and this vehicle was lost during the subsequent retreat. The fall of the bridge effectively ended the relief effort, sealing the fate of the 6th Army trapped in the Stalingrad "Cauldron." Following its recovery, the vehicle has been restored to its authentic wartime condition.
