What is there to see and do during the autumn holiday?
From 17 to 25 Oktober 2026, there are several additional activities alongside the museum's permanent experiences and exhibitions. The programme includes:
- Frontline Talks - Saturday from 13:00 to 14:30. Ask the veteran all your questions, and try on the equipment yourself. How many push-ups can you do while wearing a fragmentation vest?
- Open Car Park - Thursday and Sunday from 12:00 to 15:00. Climb into and onto some of our historic vehicles.
- Weapons Days - Friday from 12:00 to 15:00. Our firearms team explains more about several weapons from the Second World War and their historical context.
- Free treasure hunt - From Monday to Wednesday. Explore through our museum and try to answer all the questions. Can you solve the puzzle?
These activities are part of the autumn holiday programme and take place on the days and at the times listed above.
In addition to the extra activities, you can of course explore the museum's permanent collection during your visit. See original objects and vehicles and learn about the Second World War from different perspectives. Personal stories, historic vehicles and interactive presentations show how the war affected both military personnel and civilians.
In the exhibition The Netherlands in the Second World War, you can discover how everyday life changed during the occupation. In the Military Hall, vehicles, weapons and other military equipment take centre stage.

A day out during the autumn holiday in bad weather
Even in typical autumn weather, the museum is great place to visit. The entire museum experience takes place indoors. You only need a coat or umbrella to get from the car park to the building. You can walk through the different exhibition spaces, see original objects and vehicles, listen to stories and experience the interactive presentations.

How much time you need depends on how extensively you want to explore the museum and which parts you would like to see. An average visit takes approximately 3 hours.
