Overloon War Museum reopens with new exhibition!

Overloon War Museum reopens with new exhibition!

After a lock down of almost six months, War Museum Overloon can finally open its doors again on June 5th. In the past six months, the museum has been busy and two major renovations have been started. A new space has been built for temporary exhibitions in the front part of the museum and a new pavilion is still under construction in the Military Hall. The museum will reopen on Saturday and the first temporary exhibition will be presented to the public: Jeep Sensation!

Jeep Sensation
For many people, Jeeps are a symbol of the liberation of Europe. This makes the jeep a very accessible and, above all, well-known vehicle. In this new temporary exhibition it is possible to see many different types of Jeeps together. From early pre-war models to one that rolled off the production line in 1945 towards the end of the war. A number of unique beautiful specimens are therefore shown for the enthusiast. A number of vehicles have been professionally restored or preserved especially for this exhibition and are back in top condition. The space is tastefully decorated with drawings of jeeps and there will also be videos shown in which Jeep enthusiasts have their say.

New Pavilion
The construction of the new pavilion in the Military Hall is still in full swing when the museum reopens. This space will be taken into use just before the summer holidays. The pavilion consists of a large, sloping podium on which the remains of a Lancaster bomber will lie, in the shape of what the aircraft originally looked like. And under the stage there will be an exhibition about air war and a special film presentation about freedom. The two renovations were realized through subsidies from the Vfonds and the Province of Noord-Brabant and with the cooperation of our Friends foundation.
