Enigma

This is a rare piece of history: a working Enigma I from 1927.

This particular machine was part of the very first delivery to the German Wehrmacht. Famous for its complex encryption technology and its iconic plugboard, the device had a surprisingly long service life: after the Second World War it was even used until 1974 by the German border guard.
