Cromwell Mk. IVF

This tank was used by the 15th/19th Hussars of the British 11th Armoured Division, known as the “Black Bull,” which landed in Normandy. The Cromwell tank was relatively fast and, thanks to its low profile, well suited for reconnaissance missions. However, its 75 mm gun was too light to penetrate modern German tanks. Near Overloon, this tank was hit by a direct strike on the right rear plate, possibly from a German Pak 40 gun or a Panzerjäger IV/70. The impact set the Cromwell’s engine on fire, causing its own ammunition to explode and completely destroy the tank.
