An unforgettable day out this Christmas holiday!

Experience history at the largest war museum in the Netherlands.

Visit us during the Christmas holiday (from Saturday 20 December to Sunday 4 January) for a special experience for young and old. Discover no less than 20,000 m² of wartime history, admire more than 150 military vehicles and immerse yourself in the impressive D-DEX experience. Be carried away by exhibitions filled with personal stories that will stay with you for a long time.
This Christmas holiday we once again offer special activities for the whole family! Check the AGENDA for the day to day activities.

There is so much to do during the holidays!

Living Displays
Meet re-enactors who are present on various days to bring true stories to life.
Experiencing D-DEX first? Afterwards you can ask the Combat Engineers all your questions and dive deeper into their remarkable stories.
Meet the crew of the Horsa Glider and learn about the crucial role they played during operations such as Market Garden.
Talk to the paratroopers who bravely held their positions during the Battle of the Bulge, and listen to the moving stories of Terence Greenall and Bob Dare at the Humber Scout Car and the Churchill tank.

Open Car Park: Climb and explore historic vehicles!
This Christmas holiday, our Open Car Park is back! Remember those vehicles in the woods you could climb on? This year we bring that experience back to life with eight vehicles.

Climb in or on eight iconic vehicles such as the Weasel, YP, Nekaf Jeep and the imposing M4 High-Speed Tractor (KingKong). Take a look inside the enormous BARC, or climb on top of three impressive tanks: the Centurion, T34-85 and the Sherman Cookie. The latter has a special bond with our museum and was left behind after the Battle of Overloon.

Weapons Day – Friday 2 January
The museum has an enormous weapons collection from the Second World War. During Weapons Day you get a unique chance to learn all about it. Our firearms team will tell you everything you want to know. The weapons are of course deactivated and can be held under supervision.

D-DEX – Experience D-Day up close
In this new, impressive experience you step into the footsteps of the American 146th Combat Engineers. This unit was the first to land on Omaha Beach, Normandy, on 6 June 1944.
UNIQUE, IMPRESSIVE & MOVING! Want to know more? Click HERE. Want to experience it yourself? Visit the museum!

Visit the Christmas Square
Fancy a warm coffee or hot chocolate during your visit? Stop by our Christmas Square in the heart of the museum. This year you can write a card to Dutch servicemen and -women who are deployed abroad during the holidays. Place your card in the Christmas postbox and we’ll make sure it is delivered.
