Summer Holiday at Overloon War Museum
From Saturday 5 July to Sunday 31 August 2025
Come visit the largest war museum in the Netherlands this summer and get a bird’s-eye view of the history of World War II. Walk past more than 150 military vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and artillery pieces. Discover the stories behind them and immerse yourself in our interactive exhibitions.

Monday: Frontline Talks
Meet one of our veteran volunteers. Ask your questions and try on a real helmet and flak vest. How many push-ups can you do wearing one?

Tuesday: In Service of the SS – Gérard’s Story
Hear the gripping story of Jacques, who tells about his uncle Gérard and his choice to join the Waffen-SS.
Every Tuesday at 12:00 and 14:00 (approx. 20 minutes)
Wednesday: Mission D-DEX – The Great D-Day Quiz
Test your D-Day knowledge in this interactive quiz! Join as a team, family, couple or individual and win a special prize package. Pro tip: visit the D-DEX experience first.

Thursday: Open Car Park & Holocaust Lecture
Climb into some of our historic vehicles, including the Nekaf Jeep, Weasel, Centurion tank, and the massive Barc. From 12:00 to 15:00
Attend a Holocaust lecture by Sem at 12:00 and 14:00. He explores the question: how does an ordinary citizen become a war criminal? Suitable for ages 12 and up (±35 minutes).
Note: On Thursday 7 August, only the Open Car Park is available.
Friday: Weapons Days
Did you know the museum houses a massive weapons collection? Learn all about WWII weapons from our firearms team. Can you identify the weapons without help?

Saturday: Open Barc Vehicle
A rare opportunity to step inside the gigantic Barc vehicle.
Every Saturday from 12:00 to 15:00
Sunday: Mini Mission – Take the Wheel
Take the driver’s seat in the Nekaf Jeep, Weasel and Centurion Tank.

Daily: Free Guided Tour at 13:00
Our expert guides will give you a one-hour overview tour of WWII history. The tour is tailored to the group and suitable for children.

Don’t Miss: D-DEX
D-DEX is an immersive experience about the Normandy invasion. Walk in the footsteps of the soldiers who landed on Omaha Beach on 6 June 1944. With video, sound, sets, special effects, and authentic artifacts, this is a must-see!
Need a Break? Visit Museum Café De Vrijheid
Enjoy a fresh coffee, lunch or snack on our green terrace. There's plenty of choice for kids too. No need to bring your own food—you can even return to the museum after your café visit.
