The Netherlands during World War II

In May 1940, German troops invade the Netherlands. After just a few days of fighting, the country surrenders – beginning an occupation that will last five years. How does the German occupying power behave? And what does this mean for the Dutch population?

During your visit to our exhibition, you step into the lives of eight individuals who lived through these years – as a soldier, a housewife, a queen... You will encounter their dilemmas: Do people adapt, collaborate with the occupier, or join the resistance? And what if you are Jewish?

Discover their personal stories in our major educational exhibition, and take a stand on the questions that confronted the Dutch during the years of occupation. A visit rich in historical depth and moral reflection. Exactly what we need these days!

We are open. Visit the new D-DEX experience!
